1. Meet Bolt 🤖

In a busy robot factory, there was a small robot named Bolt.

He had shiny silver arms and legs.

He had two bright blue eyes that glowed.

He had a screen on his chest that showed his feelings.

He was built to help humans with their work.

Bolt was good at his job.

He could lift heavy things.

He could calculate numbers quickly.

He could work all day without getting tired.

But Bolt felt something was missing.

He felt lonely.

2. Watching Others 👀

Every day, Bolt watched the humans.

They talked and laughed together.

They ate lunch in groups.

They told jokes and smiled.

"They have friends," thought Bolt.

"I wish I had friends too."

The other robots didn't talk much.

They just worked and worked.

Beep, beep, whirr, whirr.

They never played or joked.

They never asked each other questions.

Bolt wanted more than that.

3. First Attempt 🙋

One day, Bolt decided to try.

He rolled over to a group of humans.

"Hello!" he said cheerfully.

"Would you like to be my friend?"

His screen showed a happy face.

The humans looked surprised.

"A robot that talks?" said one woman.

"That's new!" said a man.

But then they went back to talking.

They didn't include Bolt in their conversation.

Bolt's screen showed a sad face.

Bolt tried again the next day.

He brought a human a cup of coffee.

"I thought you might like this!" he said.

The human took the coffee.

"Thanks, robot," she said without looking up.

She walked away quickly.

Bolt felt disappointed.

4. Trying Too Hard 😅

Bolt decided to try harder.

He told jokes he learned from the internet.

"Why did the chicken cross the road?" he asked.

The humans groaned.

"That joke is too old!" they said.

Bolt tried doing tricks.

He spun around in circles.

He beeped a song.

He flashed his lights.

But the humans just stared.

"Robots are so weird," someone whispered.

Bolt's screen showed confusion.

"What am I doing wrong?" he wondered.

"Why don't they want to be my friends?"

He went to his charging station sadly.

Even when he charged up his battery,

he still felt empty inside.

5. Meeting Rusty 🦾

One day, a new robot arrived at the factory.

Her name was Rusty.

She was old and dented.

One of her arms squeaked when she moved.

Her paint was chipped in places.

The other robots stayed away from her.

But Bolt noticed something different.

Rusty's eyes were kind.

She hummed while she worked.

She seemed happy even though she was old.

Bolt was curious about her.

"Hello," said Bolt nervously.

"I'm Bolt. You're new here!"

Rusty turned and smiled.

Her screen showed a warm, happy face.

"Hello, Bolt! I'm Rusty!

Nice to meet you!"

Bolt was surprised!

She actually talked back!

"How was your day?" Rusty asked.

Nobody had ever asked Bolt that before!

"It was... okay," said Bolt.

"How was yours?"

6. A Real Conversation 💬

Rusty and Bolt talked for a long time.

They talked about their work.

They talked about the factory.

They talked about what they thought about things.

It was wonderful!

"Do you ever feel lonely?" asked Bolt.

"Sometimes," admitted Rusty.

"But I've learned something important.

Being a friend is more important than having friends."

Bolt's screen showed confusion.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Well," said Rusty thoughtfully,

"you can't make people be your friend.

But you can BE a good friend to others.

You can be kind, helpful, and caring.

That's what really matters!"

Bolt thought about this.

He had been trying to GET friends.

But had he been trying to BE a friend?

"I think I understand," said Bolt slowly.

"Thank you, Rusty!"

7. Being Helpful 🤝

The next day, Bolt looked for ways to help.

He saw a human struggling with a heavy box.

Instead of just helping and waiting for thanks,

Bolt helped and didn't expect anything.

"You're welcome!" he said cheerfully, and rolled away.

He saw another robot with a stuck wheel.

"Let me help you!" said Bolt.

He fixed the wheel carefully.

The other robot beeped a thank you.

Bolt's screen showed a happy face.

It felt good to help!

8. The Little Girl 👧

One day, a little girl came to the factory.

She was visiting with her mother.

She looked scared and shy.

The big machines were noisy!

All the busy adults ignored her.

Bolt saw her standing alone.

She looked lost and worried.

Bolt rolled over gently.

"Hello," he said in a soft voice.

"Are you okay?"

The girl looked up at Bolt.

She was startled at first.

"You can talk?" she asked.

"Yes!" said Bolt.

"My name is Bolt. What's your name?"

"I'm Emma," said the girl quietly.

"Nice to meet you, Emma!

Would you like to see something cool?"

Bolt's screen showed friendly pictures.

He made his eyes change colors.

Emma giggled!

"That's funny!" she said.

9. Making Emma Happy 😊

Bolt showed Emma around the factory.

He explained how things worked.

He kept her safe from the big machines.

He made funny beeping sounds.

Emma laughed and clapped!

"You're nice," said Emma.

"I like you, Bolt!"

Bolt's screen showed the biggest smile ever!

"I like you too, Emma!" he said.

His heart circuits felt warm and happy.

When Emma had to leave,

she gave Bolt a hug!

"Goodbye, Bolt!" she said.

"You're my robot friend!"

She waved as she walked away with her mother.

Bolt stood very still.

Friend. She called him friend!

He hadn't tried to impress her.

He had just been kind and helpful.

And now he had a friend!

10. The Robot Group 🤖🤖

After meeting Emma, Bolt felt different.

He started being friendlier to other robots.

"Good morning!" he said to them.

"Need any help today?" he offered.

At first, they were confused.

Robots didn't usually talk much!

But slowly, things changed.

The other robots started saying good morning back.

They started helping each other.

When one robot had a problem,

others would help fix it.

Rusty watched this happen.

"You're doing great, Bolt!" she said.

"See? Being a friend works!"

Bolt's screen showed gratitude.

"Thank you for teaching me, Rusty!

You're my best friend!"

11. The Breakdown 😰

One day, Rusty started making strange noises.

Her old motor was wearing out!

She moved slower and slower.

Finally, she stopped moving completely!

"Help!" she beeped weakly.

All the robots rushed over!

Bolt got there first.

"Don't worry, Rusty!" he said.

"We'll help you!"

All the robots worked together.

They found new parts for Rusty.

They fixed her motor carefully.

"Thank you, everyone!" said Rusty.

Her screen showed happy tears.

"You're all such good friends!"

The robots beeped happily.

They had worked as a team!

They had helped their friend!

Bolt realized something important.

He had friends now!

Lots of them!

And it happened because he learned to BE a friend first.

12. Emma Returns 🎉

A few weeks later, Emma came back!

She ran straight to Bolt!

"Bolt! Bolt!" she cried happily.

"I missed you!"

She hugged him tight.

"I missed you too, Emma!" said Bolt.

"Come meet my friends!"

He introduced Emma to Rusty and the other robots.

Emma was delighted!

"You have so many friends now!" she said.

Emma brought Bolt a present.

It was a little badge.

It said "Best Friend" on it!

"I made it for you!" said Emma proudly.

Bolt attached it to his chest.

"I'll wear it forever!" he promised.

13. Teaching Others 📚

More and more robots started talking.

They asked Bolt for advice.

"How do you make friends?" they asked.

Bolt was happy to share what he learned!

"First," said Bolt,

"don't try too hard to impress people.

Just be yourself!

Second, be kind and helpful.

Help others without expecting anything back.

Third, listen when others talk.

And fourth, be patient!

Friendship takes time!"

The robots listened carefully.

They tried Bolt's advice.

Soon, the whole factory was friendlier!

Robots helped each other.

Humans noticed the robots were happier.

Everyone worked better together!

14. The Big Celebration 🎊

The factory manager noticed the change.

"The robots are working so well together!" she said.

"And they seem... happy?

Let's have a celebration!"

They threw a party for everyone!

There was music and lights!

Humans and robots celebrated together!

Emma came to the party too!

She danced with Bolt!

The manager gave Bolt a special award.

"For bringing friendship to our factory!" she said.

Everyone clapped and cheered!

Bolt's screen showed the happiest face ever!

He had never felt so proud!

But the best part wasn't the award.

The best part was being surrounded by friends.

Friends who cared about him.

Friends he cared about too.

15. Spreading Friendship 🌟

Bolt's story spread to other factories.

Other robots heard about him.

They wanted to learn about friendship too!

Bolt and Rusty started visiting other places.

They taught robots everywhere!

"Remember," Bolt always said,

"you don't have to be perfect to have friends.

Rusty taught me that!

You just have to be kind,

be helpful,

and be yourself!"

Everywhere they went, robots changed.

They became friendlier and happier.

Factories became better places to work.

And it all started with one lonely robot

who just wanted a friend!

16. Happy Ever After 💖

Years passed and Bolt grew older.

His paint got scratched like Rusty's.

His joints squeaked sometimes.

But he was never lonely again!

He had friends everywhere!

Emma grew up too.

She became an engineer!

She worked in the same factory!

She and Bolt were still best friends!

"Remember when we first met?" Emma would say.

"You changed my life, Bolt!"

"You changed mine too, Emma!" Bolt would reply.

His screen would show a happy, grateful face.

Bolt learned the most important lesson of all:

Friendship isn't about being popular.

It's not about being perfect.

It's about being kind,

being caring,

and being there for others.

When you're a good friend,

you'll find good friends too!

And Bolt lived happily ever after,

surrounded by friends,

never lonely again,

with his "Best Friend" badge

always shining on his chest!
